We’re trying out a new solution for abandoned bikes. CaBi members can earn a $5 ride credit for returning undocked bikes to nearby stations. The more bikes returned, the better the system will work for everyone.

How it works

Step 1: If you see an undocked and completely unattended bike, return it to the nearest docking station.

Step 2: Take a picture of the bike after you dock it. Make sure to include the bike number, which is located on the rear of the bike.

Step 3: Submit this form with pictures, your full name, and phone number associated with your CaBi account.

Once the information is verified, you’ll get an email with a promo code for $5 in CaBi ride credit. Please allow 8-10 business days to receive your promo code. For any questions or concerns please contact ddot.bikeshare@dc.gov.

Important note:

Do not attempt to recover any bikes that are on private property. Additionally, do not approach a bike unless you are certain it has been abandoned or unattended for a while. If you see other people near the bike then it may still be in use.
