CaBi members can earn a $5 ride credit for returning undocked red classic bikes, and ebikes outside the service area to nearby stations. (The service area is shaded red in the CaBi app.) The more bikes returned, the better the system will work for everyone.
How it works
Step 1: If you see an undocked and completely unattended classic bike or ebike outside the service area, return it to the nearest docking station.
Step 2: Take a picture of the bike after you dock it. Make sure to include the bike number, which is located on the rear of the bike.
Step 3: Submit this form with pictures, your full name, and phone number associated with your CaBi account.
Once the information is verified, you’ll get an email with a promo code for $5 in CaBi ride credit. Please allow 8-10 business days to receive your promo code. Ebikes that are properly parked outside a station using a cable lock and in a designated parking area are not eligible for a promo code or reward.
If returning the abandoned bike is not possible, please contact Capital Bikeshare customer service, supported by Lyft, as soon as possible with as much detail as possible about the bike and its location.
Important notes:
Terms apply: You are not eligible to receive credit for returning a bike that was checked out under your account. Lyft reserves the right to refuse codes to users whose participation does not conform to the rules or spirit of the program. Lyft reserves the right to modify or cancel this program at any time.
You can dock ebikes at a station or lock ebikes to any public bike rack within the service area for an extra $3. (Members pay $2). Ebikes should only be reported as abandoned if they have sustained noticeable damage or the ebike is locked using a personal lock (not the standard cable lock issued on the ebike).
Please don’t try to return a bike unless you are absolutely sure that it’s been abandoned. If you see people near an undocked bike, it may still be in use. Don’t retrieve unattended bikes on private property.
If you spot a bike in an unsafe location, please call 1-877-430-2453 to report it.
