You can return both classic bikes and ebikes to any station with an open dock – you don't have to bring it back to the station where you picked it up. Use the slider on the top left of the map screen to toggle between available docks.
To lock your ebike, remove the cable lock from the holder and wrap the cable around the bike rack. Then place the pin into the lock. You will hear a beep when the bike is securely locked, with the LED ring turning green and then flashing white. This signifies that your trip has ended.
Always park your bike responsibly. Lock your bike to a public bike rack and always be mindful of others: don’t block sidewalks, pathways, or ADA ramps. Do not lock to railings or private property and never leave your bike locked to itself. Please note that if we detect a violation of the parking standards, we will send you an in-app alert or email and you may be subject to a $25 fine.
Tap on a station to see the exact number of bikes and docks available. Line up the triangle located at the front of the bike with the dock and insert your bike gently but firmly- don't slam it! Wait until the light on the dock turns green to make sure it's locked. If you aren’t sure, pull the bike by the handlebars to confirm it’s properly locked.
If holding the bike and pushing from the handlebars isn’t working, some people find it easier to push it in by the seat, while holding only one handlebar to guide the bike. If you hear a grinding noise, sometimes jiggling the handlebars slightly, or pushing from the seat, will allow the bike to be docked properly.
Please always make sure your bike is docked at a Capital Bikeshare station when your ride is over; never leave it unattended.
